At Vallelunga, 7-8 July, precious points for Double V
A roundup of pictures from our experience in the pits and on the track.
Rookie Attianese has to acclimatise to his new car. But the PRO category is competitive to the max, and in qualifying he cannot get past the P26. The driver chooses the path of caution, manages a careful and considered race, drives cleanly analysing both the track and the car, avoiding getting involved in bloody fights that inevitably lead to the usual safety car. This tactic proves to be sharp, and lap after lap, allows him to move up an impressive 7 positions, finishing P19 in a tough debut race.
The best time in race 5 places Attianese again in P26, but this time the driver is intent on moving up from the first laps and adopts a bolder strategy. However, the competition is more intense than in the previous race and contacts are not uncommon. Unfortunately, the #27 Mustang is also affected this time and Stefano has to return to the pits with the front end visibly damaged. The mechanics act quickly, putting the car back on track at the back of the pack. Stefano is tenacious and tries to recover positions, but is hit hard by the #16 Mustang of Cappelli and the front end of the car is completely destroyed. Despite this, Attianese did not give up and managed to bring the car to the finish line, scoring another heroic P19.
Qualifying is very short, marked by 2 red flags, few laps available and Schober only starts from P17. But the start is always positive for him and this time too Patrick does not disappoint expectations, gaining a good 6 positions in the first few corners. On lap 8 the safety car is deployed and on the return to the track the race gets heated, Patrick fights to advance and arrives in P8, but in an attempt to overtake Koloc, the two cars collide and a contact causes the exhausts to leak. The #27 Mustang loses power and a couple of positions. Schober is forced to defend himself and manages to retain P10 with determination.
In race 6, the #27 Mustang starts from P13, recovers 3 positions in the first 3 laps, and launches itself in pursuit of Delsaux. Very intense race among the leaders, where first Tziortzis damages the engine, then the cars of Naska-Dubek end up in the gravel. Patrick seizes the opportunity and is momentarily in P6. But Naska returns to the track and immediately recovers positions, Schober then starts a close battle with the #24 of Malcharek, which in a couple of laps manages to overtake him. On lap 11 De Groot spins and loses 6 positions, Patrick takes advantage of this and returns to P7. The last laps are extremely difficult, Linster in the #56 Camaro pushes hard, follows the #27 closely and on the last lap tries to overtake him by making contact, but Schober, like a true warrior, does not give in and keeps his position. Another Top-10 that gives crucial points in the overall standings, with an excellent P7 finish.
